In direct response to the many months of horror in Gaza, this work also looks back at the legacy of (and ongoing) brutality inflicted on the Palestinian people throughout the years. Where imposed removal, segregation and imprisonment, continues alongside destruction of infrastructure, land theft and many other human rights violations. These black boxes are recorders of some of these events - both specific and generic - showing us uncomfortable truths the mainstream media ignores and western governments refuse to challenge.
Pulling back the curtain of propaganda.
"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." Desmond Tutu.
The models in this set and accompanying fundraising publication (with written pieces from various activists) all highlight protest. In particular protest and its relationship with Palestine. From direct actions and blockades, to demonstrations and marches, as well as solidarity events, commemorations, tributes, court support for arrested protestors and flag raising. They memorialise and mark the range of grassroots activism that has been occuring in the last few years.
These two interlinked pieces of work visualise what we do to show support and solidarity and what it is we are shining a light on and trying to stop.
"The one thing we need more than hope is action. Once we start to act, hope is everywhere." Greta Thunberg.
